The 2024 season started with a lot of moisture in some areas, then it went to hot and dry weather.
Other areas planted earlier than last year and had some hailstorms. Overall, the crop looks good.
Most growers started a week behind schedule with top kill, they started with harvest early to mid-September.
Dr. Jazeem Wahab, Horticulture Crops Agronomist, wants to start a new three-year project: “Integrated approach for improving water use efficiency, optimizing tuber yield/quality and economic returns”. SSPGA is supporting this project in cash and in-kind contribution.
We at the Saskatchewan Seed Potato Growers Association wish all the growers across Canada a good and safe harvest.
